Vineyards in this region practically hug the Alps...
Nebbiolo leads the charge in this blend which uses grapes from the Sega family's vineyards in Valtellina, a valley in Italy's Lombardy region bordering Switzerland.
Aged for 12 months in oak before being bottled. Lovely complexity, red fruit, dried herbs, and a lovely melody of minerality and smooth tannins. A lovely example of Valtellina Superiore.

Who is Barbacàn?
The wines of Barbacàn are made in the pristine alpine valleys of Valtellina, in northern Italy's Lombardy region. Angelo Sega and his sons, Luca and Matteo, farm three hectares of dramatically terraced vineyards, all planted to Chiavennasca (the local name for Nebbiolo) and handled with organic principles.
