ABOUT IPA BEER
IPAs are one of the most prolific beer styles in the craft beer world today, having spawned a seemingly unending list of offshoot styles–which is what makes us so intrigued by them!
When talking about IPAs, it’s impossible to not mention hops. Hops are the star element in IPAs, in much the same way that malt is the star element in dark beers, and yeast is the star element in farmhouse ales. IPAs are hopped at much higher volumes than other beer styles, allowing their aromas, flavours and bittering compounds to proudly sit front and centre. You only have to scroll through our online store to see the plethora of IPA subcategories that exist, though there are two main styles: West Coast IPAs and East Coast IPAs. West Coast IPAs are robust, bitter styles of beer that typically have a stronger malt backbone to prop them up. East Coast IPAs, on the other hand, are often hazy in appearance, are less bitter and have pronounced fruity hop aromas/flavours. There are many more styles in-between to choose from, so grab yourself a tin or a six pack today!
